Where can I buy pavers? At six kinds of places: home centers such as Home Depot, Lowe's and Menards (basic concrete pavers, small quantities, same-day pickup); landscape supply yards and masonry dealers (full brand ranges, bulk pallets, delivery by truck); a manufacturer's authorized dealer or contractor (premium lines like Techo-Bloc, Unilock and Belgard); tile stores such as Floor & Decor (porcelain and travertine); stone yards (natural flagstone and bluestone); and online marketplaces, which are really only practical for rubber, plastic and novelty stepping stones. For a small repair or a path, the home center is fine. For a whole patio, the supply yard is almost always the better buy, because the pavers arrive together, from one production run, on a truck that can put them where you need them. If this applies to your yard, our guide to flagstone vs travertine goes into more detail.
Where to buy pavers: the options side by side
| Where | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Home center (Home Depot, Lowe's, Menards) | Small jobs, repairs, basic sizes, quick pickup | Limited colors; thin patio stones shelved next to real pavers |
| Landscape supply yard / masonry dealer | Whole patios and driveways, bulk pallets, base and sand in one delivery | Delivery fees; minimum orders for some lines |
| Manufacturer's authorized dealer | Premium lines, full catalogs, warranty paperwork | Some lines are sold mainly through contractors |
| Tile store (Floor & Decor and similar) | Porcelain and travertine pavers | No concrete pavers; porcelain installs differently |
| Stone yard | Natural flagstone, bluestone, steppers | Quality varies by pallet; pick your own |
| Online marketplaces | Rubber, plastic and novelty stepping stones | Freight makes real pavers expensive to ship |
Which one you use depends mostly on quantity. A paver is heavy for its size. Nitterhouse lists its standard 2 3/8-inch interlocking pavers at 27 pounds per square foot, so every 100 square feet of patio is about 2,700 pounds of concrete.
How heavy is your order?
That weight is why the answer changes with the job. Twenty-five square feet of pavers, enough to patch a walk, is under 700 pounds: a couple of trips in most pickups. A 200-square-foot patio is over 5,000 pounds, which is a delivery truck, not a car. Before loading anything yourself, check the payload sticker on the driver's door jamb. It's lower than most people think, and a paver order doesn't care about the "half-ton" badge.
Our pallet of pavers guide covers pallet weights, coverage, delivery and pallet deposits in detail.
Home centers: fine for small jobs, check the label
Home Depot, Lowe's and Menards carry concrete pavers, patio stones, edging and wall block, usually from one or two big manufacturers, and often let you pick up a partial quantity the same day.
What to check on the shelf:
- Thickness. CMHA's Tech Spec 10 recommends 2 3/8 inches (60 mm) for patios, walkways and home driveways. Many thin "patio stones" are much thinner and sit right beside the real pavers.
- Stock depth. A store may hold enough for a path but not a patio. Ask whether the rest comes from the same batch, or you may end up with two shades.
- Rating. For discount driveway pavers, confirm the product is rated for vehicles. Price tags rarely mention it.
The home center wins for repairs, small paths, a few steppers and anything you need tonight.
Landscape supply yards: where most patios should be bought

This is my one opinion here: for anything bigger than a small path, buy from a landscape supply yard or masonry dealer. The reasons are mechanical, not snobbish.
- One production run. Pavers vary in shade between runs. A yard delivering 5 pallets for your patio will usually ship them together; a store restocking a shelf won't.
- Everything in one truck. Base stone, bedding sand, pavers, edge restraint and joint sand can arrive in one delivery, often with a boom or a truck-mounted forklift that puts pallets where you point.
- Full catalog. Yards carry whole lines from one or more regional or national brands, with every size, color and matching cap and step unit. Our paver brands overview explains who makes what.
- Advice from people who sell to contractors. Yards know which products fail in your climate, and they'll usually tell you.
Ask up front about the delivery fee, whether it covers the drop location you want, whether partial pallets are sold, and whether empty pallets carry a deposit.
Buying through a manufacturer's dealer
Most brands have a dealer locator on their website. Belgard runs a Belgard Authorized Contractors and Dealer Program, and Unilock leans heavily on authorized contractors. For premium lines, the dealer route matters for three reasons: you see the full catalog, you get the warranty paperwork, and some warranties or products are tied to authorized installers. If you're installing yourself, ask the dealer directly whether they sell to homeowners; many do.
Porcelain and natural stone: different stores
Porcelain and travertine are sold by tile stores. Floor & Decor's pavers range is porcelain and travertine only, in sizes from 6 x 12 up to 24 x 48 inches. Floor & Decor outdoor pavers suit patios and pool decks, but porcelain sets on a very flat bed, pedestals or mortar and doesn't lay like a concrete paver.
Natural stone is best bought at a stone yard where you can walk the pallets. Flagstone and bluestone vary by quarry and by pallet, and picking your own pieces is worth the drive.
Buying pavers in bulk
Pavers in bulk are sold by the pallet, and the per-square-foot price usually drops when you buy full pallets. To buy bulk patio pavers well:
- Order the area plus a waste allowance, rounded up to whole pallets where the saving is worth it.
- Order it all at once, from one run, rather than topping up later.
- Keep the leftovers. A few spare pavers stacked out of sight are the only guaranteed color match you'll ever have for a repair.
For price ranges by material, see patio pavers price.
Discount, clearance and leftover pavers
There are real savings in pavers clearance, as long as you know what you're giving up:
- Discontinued colors and overstock at yards and home centers. Good value, but by definition you can't buy more later.
- End-of-season sales at some yards, when stock is being cleared before winter.
- Leftover pallets from contractors or neighbours, listed on local marketplaces. Often a bargain for a small patio or a garden path. Check that every pallet is the same product and color, and count carefully; half a pallet of something is rarely enough of anything.
- Seconds (chipped or off-shade units), sold by some yards for paths and edging.
The rule for discount patio pavers is simple: buy enough for the whole job, plus spares, in one go. The saving disappears the moment you have to redo a section because the second batch doesn't match.
Buy small at the store, buy the patio at the yard
Where can I buy pavers comes down to quantity and product. Use a home center for repairs, paths and quick pickups; a landscape supply yard or brand dealer for full patios and driveways, bulk pallets and delivery; a tile store for porcelain and travertine; a stone yard for natural stone; and online sellers only for the light stuff. Whatever you buy, buy it all at once, check the thickness and rating, and put five spare pavers somewhere safe. They will be the most valuable ones you own in ten years.
FAQ
Where can I buy patio pavers near me?
Search for landscape supply yards and masonry dealers first, then check the dealer locators on Belgard, Techo-Bloc, Unilock and regional brands' websites. Home Depot, Lowe's and Menards carry basic concrete pavers for smaller jobs.
Is it cheaper to buy pavers at Home Depot or a landscape supply?
For a few pavers, the home center is often cheapest. For a full patio, a supply yard can be competitive once full-pallet pricing is included, and it delivers base, sand and pavers together. Compare the delivered price, not the shelf price.
Can you buy pavers in bulk?
Yes. Supply yards and dealers sell by the full pallet, and the per-square-foot price usually drops at full-pallet quantities. Order the whole job at once so the pavers come from one production run.
Do stores deliver pavers?
Most home centers and supply yards deliver for a fee. Supply yards often use a boom or truck-mounted forklift to place pallets. Ask where they can drop them and whether the fee covers your location.
Does Floor & Decor sell outdoor pavers?
Yes, porcelain and travertine pavers in sizes from 6 x 12 up to 24 x 48 inches. It doesn't sell concrete pavers.
