Techo Bloc Eva Pavers: Sizes, Slate vs Smooth, Price and Driveway Use

Last Updated on October 20, 2026 by Umar Farooq

Techo Bloc Eva is a 3-piece, 60 mm (2⅜-inch) dry-cast concrete paver and one of the cheapest lines in Techo-Bloc's range. The three units measure 4⅜ x 8¾, 8¾ x 8¾ and 8¾ x 13 3/16 inches and are laid in a modular or linear pattern. It comes in two textures. Eva Slate has a flagstone-like face in Chestnut Brown, Sandlewood, Champlain Grey and Shale Grey. Eva Smooth comes in Chestnut Brown, Champlain Grey, Shale Grey and Onyx Black. A pallet covers 132.48 sq ft. On Techo-Bloc's suggested retail list it's $4.88 per sq ft ($5.41 in Onyx Black), and it's sold for patios, walkways, pool decks and residential driveways. The details are in our piece on sandstone vs slate.

The figures here come from Techo-Bloc's Eva spec sheets and its suggested retail price list for Eastern Pennsylvania. How Eva fits the rest of the brand is covered in our Techo-Bloc pavers overview.

Eva sizes and pallet coverage

Scale drawing of the three Techo Bloc Eva units, 4 3/8 by 8 3/4, 8 3/4 square and 8 3/4 by 13 3/16 inches, with their length-to-thickness ratios marked on CMHA's aspect-ratio scale

From the Eva spec sheet:

UnitSize (in)Per pallet
A2⅜ x 4⅜ x 8¾132
B2⅜ x 8¾ x 8¾99
C2⅜ x 8¾ x 13 3/1655
  • Coverage: 132.48 sq ft per pallet, in 11 rows of 12.04 sq ft.
  • Weight: about 3,643 lb per pallet, roughly 27½ lb per sq ft by my arithmetic.
  • Patterns: Techo-Bloc shows one modular and one linear pattern.

Every unit is 8¾ inches in one direction, which is why Eva lays fast. The A unit is exactly half a B, and courses stay straight without much fiddling. By area, a pallet is roughly 27% A, 40% B and 33% C. A modular pattern uses the pallet as it comes. Ask your dealer whether the linear pattern leaves you with extra of one size before you order.

Eva Slate vs Eva Smooth

  • Slate has a chiseled, flagstone-type surface. Colors: Chestnut Brown, Sandlewood, Champlain Grey and Shale Grey.
  • Smooth is a flat, contemporary face. Colors: Chestnut Brown, Champlain Grey, Shale Grey and Onyx Black.

Sandlewood is Slate only and Onyx Black is Smooth only, so decide the texture before you fall for a color. The Slate face gives more texture underfoot and a stone look. The Smooth face gives a cleaner, contemporary one. Both are dry-cast, and Techo-Bloc's warranty covers de-icing salt damage on dry-cast products, which matters on a driveway.

What Techo Bloc Eva costs

On Techo-Bloc's suggested retail price list:

ProductList price per sq ft
Eva Slate, all colors$4.88
Eva Smooth, greys and Chestnut Brown$4.88
Eva Smooth, Onyx Black$5.41
Villagio (for comparison)$6.63 to $7.82
Blu 80 6 x 13 Slate (for comparison)$8.46 to $9.26

At $4.88, a full pallet lists at about $647, which covers a 10 x 13 ft patio with a little to spare for cuts. The list calls these prices "for market reference only," so check your dealer. But the gap to Techo-Bloc's other driveway pavers holds: Eva costs roughly 40% less per square foot than Blu 80.

Can Eva go on a driveway?

Techo-Bloc markets Eva for residential driveways, and 60 mm is the thickness CMHA recommends for pedestrian areas and residential driveways. There's one wrinkle worth knowing.

CMHA also looks at aspect ratio, length divided by thickness. Units at 4:1 or more shouldn't carry vehicles, and 3:1 to 4:1 suits limited car use such as a home driveway. Eva's A and B units work out at about 3.7:1, inside that band. The long C unit is 13 3/16 ÷ 2⅜, or about 5.6:1.

If Eva is going on a driveway, three things help:

  • A modular pattern, where the C units are mixed among shorter pieces rather than running in long lines.
  • A base built for vehicles. ICPI Tech Spec 2 calls for at least 6 inches of compacted base under a residential driveway on well-drained soil, and more on wet or frost-prone ground. That's 2 inches more than a patio needs.
  • Real edge restraint and joint sand filled to the top, so the small units can't rotate under turning tires.

For a driveway that takes a truck daily or where cars turn hard, an 80 mm paver is the safer call.

Installing Eva

Eva installs like any 60 mm paver: a compacted crushed-stone base (4 inches minimum for a patio, 6 for a driveway, per ICPI), a 1-inch bed of loose concrete sand, then the pavers, the edge restraint and joint sand. Techo-Bloc's warranty adds two habits. Pull units from at least two pallets at once so the color blends evenly, and put a urethane pad under the plate compactor so the Slate face doesn't scuff. Our guide to compacting pavers covers the passes.

Eva is the value pick for patios and walks

My opinion: Eva is the best-value way into Techo-Bloc for a patio, walkway or pool deck. You get the same dry-cast warranty and salt resistance for about $4.88 a square foot, where Blu Grande slabs start near $7. On a driveway it's defensible, but I'd keep the long C units mixed in a modular pattern and spend the savings on 6 inches of properly compacted base. The small pavers are the cheap part of a driveway. The digging isn't.
