Techo Bloc (the company writes it Techo-Bloc, and the internet writes it every other way) makes concrete pavers, patio slabs, walls and steps, sold through landscape supply dealers rather than direct. Its range splits into two groups. Pavers are driveway-rated. Slabs are for foot traffic only. Its best-known line is Blu, which comes as the 60 mm Blu 60 slab and the 80 mm Blu 80 paver. Residential products carry a transferable lifetime limited warranty that covers structural integrity and damage from de-icing salt.
I read Techo-Bloc's product pages, spec sheets and warranty document so every size, color and claim below is the company's own. PaverLab doesn't sell or rank the brand, and availability varies by market.
Pavers or slabs: how Techo-Bloc sorts its range
Techo-Bloc labels each product "Driveway-rated" or "Pedestrian-only". Its FAQ gives the rule:
- Concrete pavers are smaller units, with a length no more than 4 times the width, and at least 2⅜ inches thick. They take higher loads, including residential driveways.
- Concrete slabs are longer than that 4:1 ratio and thinner, typically from 2 inches (50 mm). They're for patios, walkways, terraces and pool decks.
Decide this before choosing a style: a patio slab can't run on into the driveway without a matching paver version. Cars don't read the label, but the slab finds out anyway.

Colors. On Techo-Bloc's pages, Blu 60 Slate lists Shale Grey, Champlain Grey, Onyx Black, Chestnut Brown, Sandlewood and Chocolate Brown. Blu 60 Smooth lists Caffè Crema, Greyed Nickel, Chestnut Brown, Shale Grey, Beige Cream, Champlain Grey, Onyx Black and Chocolate Brown.
Patterns. The Blu 60 page shows 12 patterns across three packages: modular patterns from the mixed set, linear and herringbone patterns with Grande, and linear, parquet and herringbone patterns with the 6 × 13.
Also:
- The 6 × 13 unit can be installed as a permeable system, with clean open-graded stone in the joints.
- Techo-Bloc says Blu 60 Slate and Blu 60 Smooth (HD²) have been tested to ANSI A326.3 wet DCOF standards, the slip test used for surfaces around pools.
- Techo-Bloc's FAQ says Blu 60 Slate is not for driveways; use Blu 80.

HD² versus Klean-Bloc surfaces
Each Techo-Bloc product has one of two surface technologies, never both. Paver branding has discovered the superscript.
- HD² (High Definition and High Density) is used on drycast products. Techo-Bloc says it gives a denser, near-poreless surface, lower water absorption and richer color, and claims it makes HD² products up to 1.5 times stronger than the 8,000 psi industry standard. Techo-Bloc suggests a sealer for more stain resistance on HD².
- Klean-Bloc is built-in stain protection for wet cast pavers such as Mika. Techo-Bloc says most stains wash off with mild soap and water. Once water stops beading, it recommends a penetrating sealer.
For the whole range, Techo-Bloc states a minimum compressive strength of 8,000 psi and a maximum water absorption of 5%. Sealing is optional on products like Blu 80, whose page suggests reapplying every 3 to 5 years. Our paver sealing guide covers the how-to.
What the Techo-Bloc warranty covers
Techo-Bloc's residential and commercial warranty document sets out the terms.
Covered (residential):
- A transferable lifetime warranty that starts on the delivery date.
- The structural integrity of the products.
- Abnormal surface damage from rock salt (sodium chloride) used for de-icing. Wet Cast collection products are excluded from this unless stated otherwise.
Not covered, among other items (this list is where warranties earn their keep):
- Color, size or texture complaints after installation. Laying the product counts as accepting it.
- Chipping or breakage from impact or overloading.
- Damage caused by settling of the base underneath.
- Installation that doesn't follow local codes or CMHA or Techo-Bloc guidelines.
- Efflorescence, polymeric haze and saw residue.
- Scuffs from compactors or snow-removal equipment.
If a claim is approved: After a site inspection, Techo-Bloc replaces the affected units, paying for product only, not removal or installation. Replacements may not match exactly, and you'll need proof of purchase.
The commercial warranty is shorter: five years.
Installing Techo-Bloc like any other paver
Techo-Bloc units install like other concrete pavers: a compacted base (ICPI Tech Spec 2 says at least 4 inches under patios, 6 under driveways), an inch of loose ASTM C33 sand, and edge restraint. The warranty document adds:
- Pad the compactor. Techo-Bloc recommends a urethane mat so textured faces don't scuff under the plate. Our guide to compacting pavers covers the passes.
- Blend pallets. Pick units from at least two pallets so color variation spreads evenly.
- Wash off saw slurry straight away. Dried residue stains, and the warranty excludes it.
- Blow joint sand off the surface. Polymeric haze is also excluded. See polymeric sand haze if it's already there.
Pick by rating first, then finish and color
With Techo Bloc, the first decision is structural: driveway-rated paver or pedestrian-only slab. Then pick texture and color with a dealer. My one strong opinion applies to every brand, this one included: the stone you bury matters more than the one you pick from the catalog. Pavers spread the load; the compacted base carries it. Notice that Techo-Bloc's own warranty excludes damage from base settling, which is the manufacturer saying the same thing in legal language. Spend the effort underground, and whichever color you pick will stay where you put it.

Is Techo-Bloc a paver or a slab manufacturer?

Can Techo-Bloc Blu 60 be used on a driveway?
No. Techo-Bloc lists Blu 60 as pedestrian-only and points driveway projects to Blu 80, which is 3⅛ inches (80 mm) thick with the same modular sizes.
What sizes does Blu 60 come in?
The modular set is 6½ × 13, 13 × 13 and 19½ × 13 inches, all 2⅜ inches thick. There's also a single 6 × 13 format and the Blu Grande at 32½ × 19½ inches.
Do Techo-Bloc pavers need to be sealed?
Techo-Bloc calls sealing optional, and the Blu 80 page suggests reapplying every 3 to 5 years. Klean-Bloc products come pre-sealed from the factory and need a penetrating sealer only once water stops beading.
Can you use de-icing salt on Techo-Bloc pavers?
Techo-Bloc says qualifying products can be shoveled, plowed and treated with approved de-icing salt. The residential warranty covers abnormal surface damage from sodium chloride, except on Wet Cast collection products unless stated otherwise.
